A CANTAM TB UYI General Assembly joined with the World TB Day 2022 commemoration was held on the 1st April 2022 at the Biotechnology Centre of the University of Yaoundé I, in Cameroon on the international theme “Invest to End TB. Save Lives”.
This event was an opportunity to mobilize scientists and researchers working in clinical research at the Biotechnology Center and the Faculty of Science of the University of Yaoundé I, to boost their efforts and progress towards quality clinical research as contribution to a more efficient control and elimination of TB in Cameroon.

During his intervention, Prof. Veronique Penlap, representing Prof Francine Ntoumi, the CANTAM Network Coordinator and also the Head of the Biotechnology Centre of Nkolbisson, presented the huge contribution CANTAM network in Cameroon has done in the research knowledge production since 2008, through capacity building in trained human resource and good research infrastructure. Achievements that have certainly and positively impacted the quality of academic training of more that two-hundred Masters students from various public and private institutions and PhD students throughout trans-disciplinary projects, demonstrating how CANTAM adventure has contributed to create a solid mass of North-South partnership and collaboration all required for technology transfer and to sustain quality research. This address was followed by a series of presentations by Doctorate students on the research projects being carried out in the LTRP Laboratory, then an intense phase of discussions on the overall research activities, and the strategies to implement more partnership and collaboration between the research institutions represented.

This event at the LTRP Laboratory of the Biotechnology Centre of Nkolbisson (UYI) this year was an opportunity to particularly show up the contributions of EDCTP/CANTAM programmes in maximizing efficacy to develop knowledge in quality clinical research in our environment.
